What Documents Do I Need to Get Married in Vegas?

1. A valid, government issued photo ID for you and your fiancé.
2. $102 to pay for the marriage license. Only cash, credit or debit are accepted. 
3. Internet access to apply for your Las Vegas marriage license online.
4. If you are a US citizen, you will need to know your social security number. You do not need to bring the card.
5. If you have been divorced you will need to know the month, day and year and where (city & state) your divorce was finalized. You do not need the divorce decree unless it grants you the ability to use a new legal name.
6. Widowed applicants must know the month, day, year and where (city & state) they were widowed. The death certificate is not needed.

It is now required that you apply online no more than 90 days before your wedding. Fill out the Las Vegas marriage license application here.

Important! You are applying for a legal document. Make sure the name you enter exactly matches the name on the government issued ID you will be using to get your Las Vegas marriage license.

What kind of ID do I need to get a marriage license in Vegas?
A valid, government issued photo identification. Any of the following are acceptable:

  • Driver's License
  • Passport
  • Military Identification
  • Resident Alien Card
  • U.S. or foreign country issued I.D. card showing your photo and birthdate

How long does it take to get a marriage license in Las Vegas?
The process itself does not take long. Once you are with the clerk it only takes about 15 minutes. However, we cannot guarantee how many other couples will show up at the same time to get their marriage license. This is the variable that cannot be accounted for and could result in a longer wait.

The Clark County Marriage License Bureau is open every day of the year from 8AM until midnight. Yes, that includes holidays! Yet another reason why it is so easy to get married in Vegas.

No, you do not need divorce papers, but you cannot get married in Vegas if you are already married. That would be a gross misdemeanor.

No, you do not need a birth certificate.

Do you need a marriage license to renew your vows in Las Vegas?
No, You do not need a marriage license to renew your wedding vows in Las Vegas. When you renew your vows with Vegas Weddings we give you a vow renewal certificate in a special leatherette holder that also houses a 5x7 professional photo from your experience with us. However, if you want something more official you may purchase a vow renewal certificate from the Clark County Marriage License Bureau for $21. This is not required to renew your vows.

What Else Do I Need To Know Before Getting Married in Vegas?

There is no waiting period or time constraints.

How fast can you get married in Las Vegas? Can you get married in Vegas the same day?
You can get married in Vegas the same day you arrive should that be your desire! Get your marriage license and walk across the street from the license bureau parking lot to Vegas Weddings for a ceremony. Can you just walk into a chapel in Vegas and get married?

How do you get married at the courthouse in Vegas?
In Las Vegas you cannot get married at the courthouse. Vegas Weddings offers inexpensive, non-denominational, simple and quick ceremonies. Otherwise, if you are looking for a courthouse type service, please visit the Marriage Commission of Las Vegas right across the street from the licensing bureau.

Do I need a blood test to get married?
Unlike many other states, there is no blood testing required to get married in Las Vegas.

How long is my marriage license good for?

Couples who reside in the US, regardless of which state, will simply need to get a Certified Copy of the Las Vegas marriage certificate after the wedding for their state to recognize the legal marriage. If you are coming from another country you may need an Apostille after you get married in order for your country to recognize your marriage legally. This varies by country.
